SURVEY
WHAT IS YOUR CHARACTER'S SOCIOECONOMIC BACKGROUND? WHAT IS THEIR RELATIONSHIP TO WEALTH?:
Ryan didn't grow up wealthy. He grew up in the bad part of Chino, barely looked after by his parents under the sway of his charismatic criminal older brother. He fought for what he couldn't get and struggled every day. But, he liked his life. Money was never something he ever thought he would have access to.
And then Sandy Cohen found him. He was taken in and brought to Orange County, California, specifically to the town of Newport Beach. While it took him time to embrace his life, he has still never seen money any differently. He understands the struggle and in the final season is working in hospitality at a Mexican restaurant. He knows he has access to money now through his family. He strives, goes to school, and eventually becomes an architect. It's also implied the cycle continues and he takes in his own kid off the street.
WHAT WOULD/DID YOUR CHARACTER MAJOR IN?:
He majored in Architecture. While he didn't have much direction, measurements and numbers always made sense to him. He's actually very smart, he just needs to apply himself.
WHAT IS THE MOST INTERESTING THING THAT HAS HAPPENED TO YOUR CHARACTER?:
Besides being adopted by the Cohens? Probably falling off a ladder with his then love interest, Taylor. They spent a long trip in what they called Alt-World and learned what life would have been like without the two of them having been born. So, this won't be unfamiliar to him, except he's never been to England.
DESCRIBE YOUR CHARACTER USING ONE SONG FROM THE EARLY 2000S:
Hold On - Good Charlotte
NAME 1-3 VICES YOUR CHARACTER INDULGES IN:
Alcohol
T.V. - thanks, Seth
and, while he's pretty conservative in the bedroom, sex
WHAT IS YOUR CHARACTER'S LIQUOR OF CHOICE?:
He's easy. Whiskey or vodka. He hasn't really developed that kind of palette.
HOW DOES YOUR CHARACTER LIKE THEIR EGGS?:
On a plate. He gets eggs, he's a beggar, not a chooser. (But if he had a choice, a simple scramble.)
IF YOUR CHARACTER HAD TO DRINK SOMEONE'S DIRTY BATHWATER, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY?:
If he had to? God, why would he have to? Seth would want him to say Seth and put up an entire fight about why wouldn't he, he'd drink Ryan's bathwater and now he can just hear Seth whining. Fine, Seth's, if he absolutely had to. He can't even believe there's a movie that depicts that. Sounds arthouse and independent.
Also, Taylor would. So, maybe he'd give as good as he gets.
